06.02.15 Patient Newsletter February 2015

23.12.14 Extended opening hours starting week commencing 5th January 2015 -  8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

From the 5th January the surgery will be open between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. We have recruited additional doctors and increased the number of nurse hours which will increase our overall appointment capacity. We have also recruited additional Reception staff which will improve our capacity to answer phone calls and deal with patient enquiries - there will now be an additional member of reception staff on duty every morning. As part of this restructure, we are having to stop running the 4 weekly Saturday clinics, but there is now additional appointment capacity in the evenings. We will also be arranging for a late collection of blood samples which will enable some patients to come and have their blood samples taken early evening.

The number of evening appointments is limited and whilst there will be a doctor on duty every evening and you are able to continue to book a evening routine appointment by phone, online or at Reception - it may not necessarily be with the doctor of your choice. Emergencies on the evening will be telephone triaged by a doctor.

This is a major achievement in improving healthcare services to local patients and we hope you bear with us as the new service settles in. Longer opening hours is a major step forward in improving access to GP Practices and has been introduced as part of a significant investment by NHS Surrey Heath Clinical Commissioning Group in GP Practices and Community Services.
